We discovered this gem of a takeaway by accident on our first visit to Wells. Amazing coronation chicken sandwich made to order packed with fresh salad on a choice of bread. Amazing value at £3.50 and this included choice of drink and snack. We enjoyed our lunch sat on the grass in the sunshine admiring the cathedral which is definitely worth a visit). I would recommend this sandwich bar, good quality sandwiches, you choose fillings, they quickly make. Better than the ‘run of the mill’ food chains.

"We were trying to get into the cafe opposite as it had tables in the sun, and it wasn’t immediately obvious where the entrance to the Almshouse is (10 yards down street). The outside seating doesn’t look as appealing as it’s neighbor but once inside it’s a different story. A really nice menu with an excellent selection of cakes and sandwiches and great coffee, served by friendly staff. The Almshouse itself is really pretty inside, with a bookshop, and spiral staircase taking you to more seating. Next time we’re in Axbridge we’ll be heading straight there!"
