Auberge De L'eclade from Menesterol Menu

"We visited La Clairiere this evening. It was quiet but I would recommend phoning ahead so they can be prepared for you. We turned up out of the blue but they offered the full market menu.This menu, a very good value 18 euro a head, offered a variety of options. We went for warm goats cheese salad to start which was served with toast. It was a bit strong for C but I really enjoyed it. We both went for the same main too, croustillant de continue de canard. This duck dish, was within a thin pastry and pine nuts and was delicious. It was served with mash, creamed leeks and the best carrots that I have eaten in a long time! Good filling portion!The cheese course was a full board with a good range of cheeses. Cheese lovers will not be disappointed!Our desserts were a chocolate fondant for C and Nougat ice cream for me. Both were home made and lovely. They were served with a delightful shortbread. Finished up with coffee. Our wine was decent and very reasonably priced.The staff put a lot of effort in to make us feel welcome and comfortable. A really good evening. I would really recommend a visit."
