"This cafe is a great example of country hospitality. They teach local girls how to work on hospitality so we forgave them a few mix ups with the order! Food was tasty and substantial. We are a group of friends on a short road trip...to see the Silo Art. Merredin was our 2nd stop. Cafe 56 was where we had birthday breakfast for Margaret."

"I've been coming to this place for years whenever I'm in Merriden. The food is amazing, really really good. But we consistently get terrible service here. This time takes the cake. From the moment we walked in, we felt like we were unwelcome. We walked into an empty restaurant and after a while a waitress approached us and barked if we had a reservation. She sat us in the corner and didn't speak again until we had to flag her down to ask if we could order and have wine glasses. Grumpy people continued to dump plates of food on our table and walk off. The only time we got a smile was when we left. I recommend ordering takeaway - food is amazing."

"We have just visited the Commercial Hotel on the way through from Kalgoorlie to Perth. We were looking for a good place for lunch that could accommodate our group at close to 2pm! And we were not disappointed! We were made very welcome by the...new hosts and the food was excellent too. We had the fish and cheese burger, cold beer and great banter, very happy and will definitely return."
