This is a cute restaurant with a covered eating and drinking area for those wanting to eat outside. We were a group of about 20 people, eating a la carte, they managed to get our order out simultaneously. Pizza is OK to good here, but the dish to have is the filets de perche meuniere (pictured). This is a really traditional local dish to the area, and something to try. Most places serve with these really thin fries.... View all feedback.
Really nice fondue with bolets mushrooms. Perfect taste and texture and generous portion. Nice and quiet atmosphere. Our group of 10 really had a nice time and fondue was excellent for everyone.
Great selection of dishes as plats du jour. A must try for fondue always excellent certainly one of the best in Geneva.
This is an excellent restaurant for fondue and plats du jour. A cafe not fine dining but good regular food and friendly service. Very good terrace in the summer, and the place is almost always full so reservations recommended.
We went here for a fondue and had a lovely experience. The welcome was warm and the staff were attentive. We opted for the mushrooms (bollets) fondue and boy was it mushroomy! There were lots and lots of mushrooms in the pot almost too many but the taste was delicious. We had some viande sechée and cornicons and whilst it was nice, the meat was sliced a little bit on the thick side so it was a bit chewy. We reported this to our waitress who said that next time when we order we should ask for it to be sliced thinky and they would take care of it for us. The toilets were spotless which is always a good sign. As chef Anthony Bourdin noted in one of his books, if the toilets are dirty then you can expect the same in the kitchen, this is something I've always kept in mind. The resturant has been under new management for a while now and has undergone something of a transformation. It is very clean and looks great! It's been a long time since I've visited the Cafe de Mategnin but it won't be long before I return.
Dear friend flew in to Geneva yesterday and had a hankering for fondue, so I made a reservation at Care de Mategnin largely because it had fondue and is close to the airport. What a great find! The place was hopping by the time we got there around 8:45, so they seated us in a back room that was quieter (lucky us! . We had an absolutely delightful server, help from another worker on which wine to choose (she allowed us to taste a couple of different ones before we selected the bottle we wanted and awesome food. The fondue was generous and absolutely delicious, the bread was wonderful and fresh, we had perfectly boiled potatoes and lovely crisp pickles with the meal couldn't have been better. Typical Geneva prices (ie, quite high but this one is a winner.
