FIKA is a restaurant in the American Swedish Institute. The name is derived from the Swedish tea time snack called “Fika.” The food is inspired fromby traditional Swedish fare and was outstanding with an artistic presentation and Scandinavian flavors. The coffee was also maybe the best I’ve ever had. The atmosphere is fine it’s located in the institute right by the entrance, so it’s easy to find but not intimate.Park... View all feedback.
What Scott G doesn't like about Fika Café:
Convenient place the food is really Scandanavian and is very good. I would have liked some additional options though I don't know if they have much foot traffic independent of the American Swedish Institute. View all feedback.
Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, but definitely overpriced. The quality of the food is high, and as a European I am used to smaller portions, but charging 19$ for four small meatballs with mash is way over the top.
Sitting next to the iconic 1908 mansion (33 rooms) of the Turnblad family (Swan Turnblad managed Svenska Amerikanska Postern, which had the largest Swedish newspaper paid circulation) is the Nelson Center which includes Fika Cafe offering many Nordic delights. Plenty of free parking. Keep in mind Park Ave was the first paved street in Minneapolis Turnblad owned the 1st electric car in Minnesota.
High end cafe at art gallery experience. Great coffee!
I typically don't do reviews, but today I felt like I needed to. This was my first time going to FIKA at the American Swedish Institute, my family recommended we go today as they are trying to make this a tradition for us to do around the holidays and the food was great. However, our server was not so great. One of my relatives had gotten a pastry and it seemed flatter than the other ones we had at our table, plus it was cold. When she expressed her disappointment our server said some snarky comments and didn't ask if she would like a new one at all. After that, he continued to ignore us for the rest of the time. Another employee had to come over and get my relative a new one because our server did not and apologized on his behalf. I am very disappointed about the service there, but I would definitely recommend going for the food.
The meatballs/mystery green sauce are unreal. I can’t eat then fast enough.
