I always loved Mexican food. Growing up in San Diego, I was lucky to be exposed to so much authentic Mexican cuisine. Since I moved to Pittsburgh a few years ago, I found good Mexican foods to be reckless. My sister told me about a restaurant in Monroeville, El Campesino. She went on to tell me that this was the closest good Mexican food he had tried since leaving the West Coast; I was ready to try. View all feedback.
What Angelica Cortez doesn't like about El Campesino:
Terrible service on the way, I ordered carnitas tacos, they weren't carnitas, they were horrible meat skins, I thought they were good but nothing to see, I didn't like them. View all feedback.

The food looked good, smelled good but in the middle of eating I found this in the meat. They took off for one meal, even though my husband and I didn't eat either of our meals afterwards. They told me it was from a tomato but this was definitely not skin from a tomato! I don't think I even want to know what this could be or was.
Love the bean dip, burritos tipicos, mole ranchero. Many other items as well. Food is consistently good, as well as the service.
It is absolutely impossible to go wrong with a chimichanga. It always hits the spot.
This is a chain but man was the food great and service spot on
