"This charming enoteca was recommended by the even more charming young woman at the Montecarlo Tourist office. I was flying solo that day during the wine festival and although I'd have loved to indulge in the large gastronomically paired tasting that evening, I chose to eschew that delightful idea and simply have a glass of good wine during the aperitivo hour and then head back to beautiful Barga. And I did so at La Piccola Enoteca. Che buono! I asked the very kind proprietor to choose his most robust, best red for me and that I'd also like the aperitivo spuntini selection (a plate of small snacks). Well, the spuntini were exceedingly abondante and the wine was absolutely wonderful."

"We arrived late at Montopoli and the restaurant was supposed to close at 10.30. We arrived at the restaurant just before this and they were kind enough to stay open for us which meant that they had to stay open until about midnight. They were more than happy to do so even though we felt quite guilty about this. The meal was excellent. Their meat platters and pasta were good and tasty. We went back a second time and again the meal was excellent. I had wild boar and the meat was so tender, delicious. I really do recommend this restaurant if you want very good food and as prices go in this area it was not expensive."

Between my little Italian and Alessandro's little English and a few hand gestures we managed to communicate and my group and I ate authentic fresh traditional food. Would highly recommend!
