The staff are very attentive from when you walk in to when you leave. We ordered our drinks and they brought our grand daughter her small hamburger that we ordered on sitting down. She was very hungry. They took time to answer our questions as it was our 1st. time there. It is a pub style restaurant. The fare though is of better quality than some of the better known Pubs. What helenedrouin doesn't like about L'Gros Luxe - Mile End:
I have been there a few times, because they have some interesting veg-options on their menu. Everything vegetarian and vegan is marked on the menu. Unfortunately, every time, I was a little bit deceived. The food wasn’t bad, but nothing impressive. I never felt like I wanted more, because it didn’t taste that great. At the beginning, I just thought I didn’t choose the right thing for me, but after a few tries (breakf... View all feedback.
A large restaurant made cozy with multiple smaller zones. it's a little dark, but it's not just a brunch place. Service was casual friendly and professional. Everyone was happy with their meal. The vegans with us could not have smiled more.
I have eaten here a few times since it first opened as the prices are decent, but I keep forgetting I am always unhappy when I walk out for one reason or another. Last night was definitely the last time I set foot in this establishment. I walked in, waiting 20 minutes to even be acknowledged (and I had a reservation), received terrible service from the staff and finally decided to walk out before even sitting down this time. Firstly, the place is way too loud (unpleasant loud, as in terrible acoustics) The food is meh and the servers are inattentive and just don’t care. Rude and unpleasant. I don’t go out to be treated poorly. Not a pleasant dining experience, over it completely. There are a million and one wonderful restaurants in Montreal and in the Mile End don’t waste your time here.
Been wanting to come this place and we finally did. Place is nice however some tables are too close for comfort. Our waiter was not that great, he was more into the table next to us with two ladies and then the other table which were obviously his friends because he had a shot with them. Service was lacking service, we had to ask twice for water. I had the beef burger with side dish of mac n' cheese which was great. The bun was amazing. My husband had the pulled pork burger with sweet patatoes which were awesome. Our friends had the tex mex poutine which was interesting but not a huge portion for $14.00 and the steak frit was very good. We did want dessert however a very small choice and our waiter took so long to come back, we opted to forget about it. Even though the service was not great, I would go back because the food was amazing.
Fun place to visit, the decor is like a vintage museum. Food is good and service is friendly, though could have been faster.
Make sure you have a reservation unless you dont mind seating at the bar. Food is great, I enjoyed every bit of the Poutine du Moment and the Poudding Chomeur. Warm atmosphere and prices are very good. If you are visiting Montreal for the first time or just looking for a place for comfort food go there. Service was excellent and fast.
