"We were in the area visiting from California and we had to check this place out. It was so much fun that we went back another time before heading home. Lots of different cider options and the pizzas were amazing. I can't wait to come back and try the wine bar."

"This is a small town breakfast/lunch cafe. It's been a staple of Monument, Colorado for decades, changing names with new owners as the old ones retire. The food is solid working people's meals, nothing fancy, meant to power folks through cold days, which are common at 7200'. The service is top notch for a place that's always swamped in the mornings. The wait and cooking staff work really hard, and we tip accordingly. Also popular with the retired community (mostly military) in nearby Woodmoor subdivision. The atmosphere is simple, not terribly comfortable wooden chairs, the bar stools are padded but also not comfortable. The booths are more comfortable. I've eaten here many times over the last 30 years. Their menu is good, they do cater to both the carnivores and the few vegetarians in the area. I don't think they serve alcohol, but their coffee is pretty good."

"Continuing our search for anything resembling good Mexican or TexMex, we ventured south of the border (the Castle Rock border, that is) to Larkspur. A few different people had recommended Charrito's House, so we gave it a try. The 3.5 star average is pretty accurate. First, the little house and somewhat dated, rustic setting is kind of neat. We were greeted and seated promptly. The menu is huge, and a lot looks good. I ordered the combination fajitas, and my daughter had the shredded beef enchiladas. Chips and salsa are both quite good. Salsa has a nice flavor with a bit of a bite at the end. Be aware, the first bowl of chips is free. After that, they'll charge $2.50/bowl and not tell you unless you ask. We saw that in the menu, but they're pretty quick to ask if you want more chips (of course we do, but not if we're paying for them). Food came out after a bit of a wait, but nothing too long. Unlike most other places, the fajitas were actually sizzling, so that's something. There wasn't a ton of meat, and what was there was kind of scrawny; however, both the steak and chicken had good taste, and combined with the peppers, onions, homemade Guac, condiments, and rice and beans (which were both fine), I had plenty of food. Of course, I took a pic of the sides but somehow forgot the fajitas. How did I do that?!? They'll also charge for substitutions. Even though I held the sour cream and other things, they charged $1.50 for an extra dollop of Guac. My daughter thought the enchiladas were ok. Not the best or worst she's ever had. I'm guessing she'd try something else if we decide to come back. We split an order of sopapillas for dessert. They were cooked perfectly and had great flavor, other than the strong amount of salt. Not sure if something was messed up in the batter or what should've been sugar and cinnamon, but they were quite salty. I guess mixed with the other flavors and honey, it wasn't THAT bad. We did eat them after all. Service was ok. Definitely not rushed. We had to ask for refills a few times, but overall, it was fine. So in the end, another 3.5 star experience. I'd come back if we were in Larkspur and hungry, but we probably wouldn't rush back down from Castle Rock with so many other options nearby."

"First time there and the food was very good. We both went traditional. I had the tamales Christmas with their red and verde sauces. Red is good and spicy and verde is good but not quite as spicy. My wife had the enchiladas New Mexico style (stack vs rolled) topped with the green pork chili. Very good and spicy. Margaritas were very good also. The salsa served with the chips has tomatoes but is more of a corn and black bean salsa and not spicy. It was good but I'm more of traditional salsa person. Would highly recommend to give the restaurant a try."

"The food is SO GOOD, and the staff is very friendly. I appreciate how small and intimate the room is, and the spiciness of my food was right. This is one of few restaurants that impressed me since the move to Colorado, so I would recommend HIGHLY."
