"We ate inside there were no tables outside and chose the 3 course menu (we wanted to sample the local food) The result was one of the best food experiences we have had for many years The 'Meze ' series of starters with melt in the mouth homemade 'croquettes ', followed by Verano salad with a dressing that brought out all the flavours , then a version of scrambled ages with courgettes that was the 'piece de resistance ' (Revuelto de hues) Then the main event my wife had fish (lome de bacalao) and I chose pigs trotters (Manitas de cerdo) . To say that this food was excellent is an understatement. just to show how good the cooking is we needed no salt/pepper the chef 's seasoning was spot on. By the way, if you want to 'go local ' pigs trotters are strongly advised. Then the dessert one made from ewes milk (just devine) and a taste de casa was another excellent choice. Couples with an excellent house wine (always a good way to demonstrate the quality of cooking) all in all we have one of there best meals we have had for a long time Service was excellent attentive and helpful as our Spanish is very low level"

"Xuso is another simple local tapas bar in the centre of the lovely village of Morella. Average service and decent beer. The tapas we tried were of mixed success however: the albondigas were very tasty, but served lukewarm, and the baby squid were rather tasteless and served almost cold. And whereas I might excuse a young lad for not using the microwave properly to reheat the food, I can’t excuse a cook who leaves seafood gritty. Had we only been here for a drink I would have rated this as an average bar, but the disappointing food merits a lesser rating on this occasion."
