What Geneviève Leclerc doesn't like about Chez Eva:
We thought this would be a nice place to stop and have a drink after our hike in Moureze. This was by far the worst service I have had in France. The waitress was very unfriendly, unprofessional and took forever just to greet us (which was more of a "why are you bothering me" attitude. It's too bad the service is so bad here. There is a very nice atmosphere. Don't waste your money here. You will only be writing a neg... View all feedback.
Our first meal out in Moureze didn't disappoint. At Chez Eva we received a warm welcome and managed to navigate the menu, despite our very limited French. All selections were delicious and served with a smile by Eva's daughter and her cousin.Dishes selected included Salmon rillettes, Foie Gras, Meat platter, Steaks, with great wine. Three courses for eight people came in at 330 Euros - not the cheapest meal ever but certainly not the most expensive either. The setting is beautiful and on the evening of our visit we were entertained by a four piece band. Chez Eva's is not to be missed if you are in the area.
Tonight was our second visit to this little gem of a village restaurant serving delicious local food. Thankfully, it was open as there was nothing else available on a Sunday evening! Chez Eva provides an eclectic menu supported by good regional wines, and the restaurant was surprisingly full this evening - or, unsurprisingly given the lovely food. The Magret de Canard was perfectly cooked, followed by a petit Creme Brûlée with espresso. Highly recommended.
We were staying at the hotel 500meters walk away. And it was well worth the walk. Very quaint with plenty of outside seating, the restaurant can be opened to the weather during the day. Beautiful setting. Our host had a wonderful smile and no English but did produce an English version of the menu. We both started with a green salad with raw mushrooms, lovely and fresh. Then entrecôte steak for me followed by chocolate fondant and for him 'what the chef feels like' for the vegetarian, basically a tapas type plate including gazpacho, omelette and salsa (he loved it) and then lemon sorbet. Wonderful meal, and then a waitress came on who spoke such good English, we couldn't believe she was French! All in all a lovely experience and one we would repeat happily
Lovely setting in a quiet village with fabulous food, friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.
