"Another date night, another amazing restaurant here in Nanaimo! Tonight's food tour was Nanaimo's second-best (La Stella's got new competition) Italian restaurant, The Nest. We started with a bottle of Nelson, BC's own Cactus Red, followed by butternut squash ravioli and crab arancini, and followed it up with the truffle risotto and sambuca prawn spaghetti, and finished it up with 20 year old Port and a chocolate ganache pyramid and homemade ice cream. Words escape me. I can't pick my favourite dish, although sadly the arancini was not as good as La Stella's. But the rest? A triumph! Thanks for an amazing meal and another beautiful date night!"

"We weren't hungry at all.....we just couldn't pass it without stopping in! Our two daughters and us shared a pulled pork sandwich, mozza sticks, deep fried pickles, mac and cheese and an iced tea...we were STUFFED!!!! Did I mention that we just returned to the Island after Four yrs of NO Smokin'George's????!!!! We will never b that careless again!!!"

"Best Japanese I've ever had. Delicious fresh food, knowledgeable server, passionate chef, beautiful presentation. The only way I could possibly think of improving my experience is with the addition of Japanese bidet toilets, but I understand that many people wouldn't agree with me!"

"As another reviewer said: way better than KFC. They have a few small tables so I chose to eat there. The pieces are so big, they have to use an elastic to hold the lid closed. I wasn't able to finish the fries with the 3-piece meal. The chicken was very tasty and not dripping with fat. I'll definitely return next time I'm in town. With a buddy, we'll try the pizza and chicken combo."

"Like everyone else I love their bread. I wanted to try something different so asked for a white bread, non-sourdough, with a nice chew. The nice young man recommended Working Man White, which was exactly what I was craving. Should have gotten 2 loaves, finished half the loaf by suppertime.Also got a cinnamon bun, pretty good, lots of syrup, big enough for the two of us, and butter tarts, also pretty good, huge, looked like hand pies.I keep asking for spelt bread but have to order that ahead of time, may do that next time."
