City: MONFORTE D'ALBA (near NARZOLE), Via Cavour, 5, 12065, MONFORTE D'ALBA, Italy
"After 5 years of waiting…along with most of the rest of the world…we finally were able to return to Monforte d’Alba and Le Case della Saracca. It remains in my own top ten places to stay/wine and dine. Giulio the host and owner maintains the high standards of hospitality, generosity, quality food and wine that we experienced back in 2018. This time we again had the option of choosing whichever room we wanted and this time we chose the Mandorlo (Almond room and were not disappointed. Once again the ‘aperitivo’ at the bar each night was a welcome start to the evening dining experience and the wine by the glass selection was even better than our first visit particularly those from the fridge! As the weather this time was quite a bit warmer, we sat outside at breakfast each morning, enjoying the little piece of Piedmontese history in the stone work of the street and buildings. Some of the best coffee we have had, with fresh bread, my first taste of peach juice(LOVE it! , fresh jam filled croissants and cheeses/charcuterie got our days started. The team here Christina, Maggie, Chiara and Georgia on the floor, with Maurizio keeping things working and Giulio (in charge are nothing short of brilliant! There really is nothing to complain about here, except perhaps that we needed more time for exploring the menu and of course the wine list! BRAVO! Geoffrey and Mary."
