I visited this restaurant for the first time and unfortunately, I was let down. I ordered the fried chicken, which ended up being burnt. The mac and cheese was decent, but I noticed that the greens were unusually sweet, likely due to the addition of sugar. Overall, I won’t be returning. View all feedback.
Authentic, homemade, country cooking best! It is not gluten-free, sugar-free, milk-free, low-fat or low-salt, but it is made and served with love. And it's delicious! Do not expect imagination, expensive or even a lot of air conditioning, but do you expect good comfort food from the smiling lady behind the steam table when she says? What can I do for you?
Just discovered this place today and it was delicious!! Small business but great food and people! Will definitely be going back!
Best meat and 3!! We eat here every Sunday and a few times during the week. My favorite is Yams. I always get 2 servings. Yummy!! Just wish they were open later.
The food is great. I grew up in a small southern town with great cooks and several things equaled some of the best I have eaten before. The macaroni and cheese may be the best I have ever had. The chicken and dressing was equal to the best and the chocolate pie was as good as my great aunts. The times are a little restrictive for us to get to madison, but we are going to make an effort.
First time eating here and it is AMAZING!!! The lady who I'm assuming runs/owns it was the sweetest! I will DEFINITELY be back!!! I got the chicken and dressing, cabbage,green beans, and mashed potatoes and I don't believe I've been to another restaurant has food as good as Cal's!
