Adorable, friendly, delicious, feels warm and woody inside, however lights at night are too bright.
My special someone and I went here a few weeks back for date night and had a great time.
All I can say about the people who have left "so-so" reviews of the food at Smiling Elephant is that maybe they've never been to Thailand.

"Their fresh waffle cones are an absolute must! Very light and sweet. Varied and delicious flavor options as well. I personally tried the triple scoop with Darker Than Chocolate, Salted Caramel, and Homemade Honey Vanilla and cannot recommend that combo enough. Very courteous service and an agreeable price point."

"I'd love you rate The Ridge at 5 stars but the best thing about my order was the hush puppies. The sweet color slaw was just cabbage and mayo, turnip greens were so hot I couldn't eat them and the catfish was not seasoned at all.The customer service was excellent, however so I'll go back and try the bbq!"

"We went to brunch at Midtown. We had an reservation and when we checked in we were immediately seated. Our server immediately gave recommendations and took our drink order. Food gas fabulous and drinks superb. Highly recommend"

"Very cute. First time there and in Nashville. Delicious vegan comfort food. My mom got the soul food plate and I got the spicy soul food plate. The food was so good, we especially enjoyed the Mac and cheese, the collard greens, the vegan meet, everything. The owner was very sweet. Perfect southern comfort food.Food: 5/5"

"I had been waiting YEARS to try this place, ever since they were in their adorable little building and I finally was able to try it last fall! They're hours are odd and we had to order online. I'm sorry but I just really didn't like it : I really wanted to like it but I don't see what the hype is...I ordered the tenders and mac n cheez with ranch. Everything was super salty and the ranch had this taste that I just really couldn't relate to ranch, it was just odd. The tenderslooked like a solid slab of gluten that reminded me more of a flat vegan sausage and the coating was not crispy; it was more like chewy gummy bread as you can see in the photos. The mac n cheez didn't taste like mac n cheez at all, it wasso salty I stopped eating it. Idk if maybe it's the workers or if these are their recipes but it just left this place looking highly overrated."
