we had both steaks I had. both steaks were perfectly cooked and the sides were good. I didn't often end the whole steak, but it was so good, I couldn't stop. Unfortunately, none of us had space for dessert. the wine list is longer than one expected, and the prices are reasonable. the best thing about red board is their willingness to meet special requests. chef craig is awesome! What User doesn't like about Red Board Tavern Table:
Food was good but not worth the price. The major letdown for us was for the prices they’re asking per entree $40-$50 per entree only). Overall experience was good. Small-town Navasota has no business charging that much for dining. Prices are not listed online for a reason. The prices compare to Downtown Dallas, Los Angeles CA, NYC. The restaurant itself is cute, quiet, and the service was excellent. It looks like the... View all feedback.
Excellent service, excellent food, and a truly welcoming environment
For various reasons, I was so excited for my first visit to the Red Board Tavern in Navasota, Tx. To my regret, my excitement was thoroughly misplaced. Upon arrival, I was greeted promptly, my reservation acknowledged and I was quickly seated. The restaurant wasn’t busy so I thought I’d get descent service. First, it took at least 10 minutes before my water glass was filled. It took an additional 10-15 minutes before my waitress came to the table for the her first visit, without introducing herself. She rushed and took my order for an appetizer then left the table without taking my order for a drink/beverage. The entire 2 hrs I was there, my waitress never took my drink order. I was forced to stop the hostess to order a drink about 45 minutes into my visit. The waitress finally came back to my table for the second time with the appetizers. Usually at eateries, once the appetizer arrives, patrons are given the choice to order their entree and/or have a few minutes more. I wasn’t ready to order my entree but I wasn’t sure when/if she’d return so I rushed and ordered. The hostess cleared my table after the appetizer, including most of the utensils but stated I’d get more for the entree. Someone other than my waitress brought the entree without utensils so I had to ask for more. Overall, the hostess and food was ok but the waitress service was horrible. At least the service I received from my waitress was awful. To make matters worse, my waitress gave off a vibe that made me feel unwelcome. This is an upscale eatery so everything should be impeccable, on the contrary! The saying “you pay for what you get” is not always true, case in point. I don’t plan on returning anytime soon, if ever. Management/owners, do better!
We celebrated an anniversary, the food was great, the piano player was extremely talented and played perfect background music while we dined. The noise level was perfect for table conversations, without being too quiet. Wonderful evening!
The service was outstanding. The Deviled Eggs, Sloppy Joe and BLT sandwiches were excellent as well. They even make their own potato chips! A great lunch experience!
The deviled eggs are a must. Cesar Salad was fresh and delicious. The crab and leek tart was OK- I’d love more lump crab in it. The ciopino was a bit salty and didn’t have any shrimp in it. The broth was more of a Cajun bbq style. The Carmel ice cream on the peach cobbler was a bit icy and not super smooth.
