This is a perfect dive bar for Upper Manhattan/Spanish Harlem. It's located right on Harlem Row, near 114th on Fredrick Douglass Blvd (aka 8th Ave). Drinks are balanced and classic, karaoke on Monday nights, and darts in the place as well. There is a LOT of seating, as their bar is long and their bartenders are attentive. Ask for Finney when you stop by!Almost forgot THERE ARE TVS! You can watch the game there, any s... View all feedback.
What doesn't like about Bean Barley:
The new manager Finney is terrible. The owner should ask him where the goes when he charges for food. He is quick to kick out people with no reasoning rather than his own protection. Btw, he charges customers for food on his own Venmo rather than the register....take note JJ. He 's also a big liar. I had a blast at this place.. excellent customer service!
Patronized this establishment for many years !! I celebrated many of birthdays there!! To have Ryan and Ignacio!! Disrespect me , and to to be overcharged for drinks!! I would not recommend this spot if these two are working the bar!!
The drinks are horrible. More importantly though, the bartender had an attitude when I told him. Also my bill came to about $46 and when I got home and checked my account a few days later, I saw that the bartender decided to tip himself an additional $8 without my permission or signature. Based on that experience I wouldn't recommend this place and will not return here. If I could give 0 or -5 stars I definitely would.

Accusing me of threatening and swearing at a woman when in fact the woman was threatening and swearing at me. I walked away. If I threatened someone then why was I allowed to continue to stay for a few more hours? It wasn 't I contested for to pay for ONE incorrectly made drink that I was told I was banned by a bartender that Finney fired. If you 're gonna tell a story, tell it correctly.
The person working was super nice, but a coffee shop should know how to make a cortado. I received a 20oz (something like a Venti at Starbucks) cup totally full. A cortado should be around 4oz. Being small is a defining characteristic, so to receive some big gulp drink was odd.
