In Newark for a couple nights, and this pub/restaurant had great reviews. It did not disappoint. Everything was delicious, hand battered mushrooms and onion rings, perfect burger, amazing Reuben. View all feedback.
What Drew Sallada doesn't like about Bummie's On Main:
Overpriced bar food. Place is way to small, sitting on top of people . Wings basic , fries were decent . Pizza greasy . And to top it off they charge you for ranch without notice which is annoying when you pay $16.99 for awful wings. View all feedback.
Good food and a comfortable, friendly place. My Hawaiian Swine sandwich was excellent and big enough that I saved half for lunch the next day.
My wife, son, and myself stopped in for food and were blown away. We've heard how great their burgers and fish tail sandwich are and had been meaning to try Bummies for ages now. Glad we finally did. The burgers are generous in size and great quality. My son and I had the Ragin' Canjun burger and loved it. My wife had the Steakhouse and really enjoyed it as well. An entire review could be written about how good their onion rings were. You can add them onto a burger as a side for $2.99 and the amount that you get at that price was well worth it. Probably the best onion rings I've ever had. Service was fantastic. The waitresses seemed to know everyone who was walking in the door and were super friendly and attentive. We didn't have drinks (save for soda) but some of the drink specials sounded amazing and my wife and I plan on going back to try those out soon. If you're in the area or a local and haven't tried Bummies, do yourself a favor and stop in asap.
This place was a delight. As a visitor, only in town for a week, this place was everything you could ask for and seemingly a staple in Newark! It was hopping with good vibes, fantastic service, wonderful atmosphere that felt like a classic tv show place that everyone in the town loves, and absolutely delicious food. I hope to return again when back in Newark because I genuinely enjoyed my experience.
Awesome local joint with great staff and atmosphere.
Went at 4-4:30 to beat the crowd. Hubby and I have tried 3 times to go, but it's been next to impossible to park or they were closed. They now have a stop light on the top of the building to show if there are open table (green) or no seats (red); pretty cool! We had the reuben and the hawaiian swine (shaved ham, Swiss and pineapple). The reuben was average. The ham sandwich was really good, but could have used a condiment/sauce. It wasnt dry or anything, just a thought. I like it though. There are 2 sandwiches on the plate. And they arent slider size, so I had a spare for the next day. Portion sizes are good. Onion rings were good, but mine seemed a big greasy, which is contrary to what I've heard about them, so maybe a fluke
