The Mongolian Beef turned out better than I thought it would.. Tried a bite of sesame chicken that was awesome! Nice crisp! My dish came with a side of fried rice that also tasted good! My soda didn't come with a cup but maybe I was supposed to ask for one.. idk.. View all feedback.
What Ed K doesn't like about Husky:
This restaurant located downtown, has a very nice assorted menu, from Ribeyes and Burgers to Sushi and Stirfry.....the entres are pricy, but everything is that way in Nome...The staff was very nice.....It was kinda small, but cozy, not cramped.....I had the Husky Halibut, which was presented as a filet, with stirfry and rice......it had just the right amount of spiciness.....when you go to Nome, you gotta go here....... The first time I had the Husky Rice..the shrimp, beef and chicken were fresh and not over cooked. The second time I had the same rice, the single shrimp they cut into pieces was old and rubbery, the beef that was cut into iddy biddy pieces with a texture like jerky and tasted the same as the chicken..like refrigerator storage. I felt robbed and even that rice the second time wasn't right. I can't quite put my finger on what went wrong, but it tasted like bad cooking oil. It probably was. All I can say is that I was disappointed and the second time around, and I even received even less rice for the same dinner price. Um.. the price I paid over $26 for the rice and 6 pieces of the japanese version of a won tons. That was the last straw for me. I don't eat Sushi which they also eat here. I wouldn't suggest it. That's playing russian roulette with your stomach. It's a risk here is all I'm saying.
One of my favorite sushi place! We had sweet and sour pork with white rice. And Tiger roll. That sushi was very fresh. They know how to cook Chinese/Japanese food, Well done! I will def come back again!
Pleasantly surprised at how good the rolls were. It was a slow Monday night, a little late (8:30) and I had the place to myself. I had the California roll variations (one topped with tuna, the other eel). No problem with asking for extra ginger I can understand why they wouldn't want to waste it. While the crab was actually surimi, I enjoyed it very much. Ronnie's it is not, but about as good as you can get in Nome. I liked it better than Bering Sea. The portions seemed more generous and the service more genuine.
I was pretty disappointed with this restaurant. For starters, the menu is huge, too huge. The restaurant was clean, but not really that inviting in terms of decor and atmosphere. I got the golden shrimp. It was alright, but nothing special. My friend got the tempura vegetable, however, it was basically all tempura and no vegetables. The golden shrimp came mostly with onions and some broccoli stalks (basically no florets). The flavor on it was alright, but I definitely won't be returning. The woman working doesn't have the best English, which is fine if you do not have too many questions. The main thing that irritated me was that after she brought our food, she never came back. She didn't offer any refills or come to check on us. She just sat at a booth on her phone. We figured out finally that we should just go pay up front and leave. Nothing was awful about this restaurant, but also nothing stood out about it either. There are better places to spend money on in Nome, and plenty more Asian restaurants.
Hands down the best dinner in Nome. There are a couple of other good restaurants here, but this is th best.
