Truly the best chili dog I've ever had! And they give you enough fries for a family too. Went here for a quick bite when we visited the Big Whisky. Glad we found this place. View all feedback.
What Evandro Alves doesn't like about Famous Uncle Al's:
I did a delivery pickup here and decided I would bring hubby back for breakfast. The older gentleman on the grill is very nice. We appreciate the cooking he did. If there was one thing, when we asked for scrambled eggs we got a fried thin flat egg instead. Other than that the food was ok. View all feedback.
Great food, great service, great people!!! My go to spot for some goooood chili cheese fries and hot dog. Best in the 757 IMO
Didn't know it was under new ownership. Bad move. Phoned in my order. Got hung up on once and after calling back to back I finally got an answer and stayed on phone to take the order which I had to repeat multiple times. I showed up to get my order and the lady who I placed the order with did not even make eye contact with me. She just stood there writing something down as I waited for like 5 min. I also did not like the fact that she had an ear bud in her ear. I also work in the server industry and that is a big NO NO. I have my phone on me at all times however my phone remains in my pocket on silent/vibrate so I know if there is a call I need to take/return. I was then spoken to by another gentlemen. Given all new faces on a place I frequented I asked if ownership transferred. He said yes that he was the new owner however all the prior staff had quit after being told they would stay. Can't say I blame them. Trying to pay for separate orders was an ordeal as well as our orders were all pretty much wrong. Food was nowhere close to even tasting the same as before. Really sorry that the owner sold and the staff left as I won't be a frequent flyer anymore. They get one star since they make us give a rating.
Order 2 orders of fries and only received 1 I was in the store and asked if that was 2 orders and was told yes will not be returning don't like for ppl to try n get over
This my FAVORITE place to eat on Granby, breakfast or lunch you cant go wrong. American style food made to order and Robert and his team always make sure it is the best nothing less! I appreciate the great hospitality in this establishment. No wonder why this shop remains in business after we see many many fail on this street. Keep up the great work! -Liz
Yo, what’s up, Norfolk! If you haven’t been to Uncle Al’s in downtown Norfolk, let me tell you, you’re missing out on some legendary corned beef hash. I’m talking about hash so good, it’ll make you want to break out into a song and dance right there in the middle of the street. Now, Uncle Al’s—this place is a gem, man. You walk in, and it’s like stepping into a spot where you know the food is made with love. It’s got that classic diner vibe, but with a twist that makes it feel fresh and homey. And if you live or work downtown, this spot is pure gold. It’s convenient as hell, like they just knew you needed that perfect breakfast joint around the corner. But let me get back to that corned beef hash. Oh my God, it’s like heaven on a plate. The corned beef is tender, seasoned just right, and mixed with crispy, golden potatoes. They serve it up hot and fresh, and every bite is like a little piece of happiness. You take one bite, and you’re like, “Damn, this is what life is all about!” It’s the kind of dish that makes you wanna call up your grandma and tell her to step up her game. The staff at Uncle Al’s? They treat you like family. Super friendly, super welcoming, like they’ve known you your whole life. You walk in, and they’re already making you feel at home. And the coffee? Strong enough to wake the dead, but smooth enough to keep you coming back for more. And let me tell you about the location—right in the heart of downtown Norfolk. Whether you’re rolling out of bed or taking a break from work, it’s the perfect spot to get your fix. Easy to get to, and you don’t have to wander far to find a parking spot. They know what you need, and they deliver every single time. So, Uncle Al’s? Five stars, no doubt. If you haven’t been there yet, get your behind down there and try that corned beef hash. Trust me, it’ll change your life. And if you see me there, don’t be shy—say hi, and let’s enjoy some of the best damn hash Norfolk has to offer.
