"I won a meal for two in a Facebook compition whichI was delighted with .my sisters law and I went to cafe Essence last Thursday night and we had a wonderful evening. Soft music playing in the background and the food was mouth watering.The guy who served us was very attentive couldn't do enough for us I had Lemon crusted cod,garden peas,hand cut chips ,homemade tomato salsa which was all beautiful ,Pauline had chicken chassaurwith veg and hand cut chips for dessert we both had warm chocolate fudge cake with cream we were both stuffed to the gills a truly wonderful meal a beautiful way to spend a windy Thursday night Cafe Essence is a jewel in Bangors crown I would easy give them 11 out of 10 for the food.thank you Cafe Essence for a wonderful night.x"

"The food was utterly outstanding. Have lived and eaten out all over the UK, and can easily say this is one of the best restaurants I've been to. Setting was also really pleasant. Will definitely go again next time I'm in Northern Ireland."

"Good food and staff are super friendly helpful and attentive. Always busy which says alot. The outside eating/drinking area is managed so well and a great atmosphere. The big burger is something else! I would definitely recommend here"

"Everyone went out of their way to make sure the youngest of their customers (6) would enjoy his food. Really appreciated that, even though I brought him there specifically for him to try a new taste, so offering to make him chips and bringing him Tikka Masala while he was saying he loved his lamb was a bit too much. The food was good, they are trying hard to make it palatable to Western taste without losing too much of the original flavour. The price is a tad big considering the ingredients used, but all in all it was a very good, friendly, I'd say even memorable experience. The service is impeccable and something more, they really do know how to make someone feel welcome. I'd always pay a bit more for the food to have such a lovely dining experience, especially if the occasion requires good food, friendly service, relaxed decorum and a bit of privacy. Thank you for a lovely lovely dinner!"

"Pretty disappointed. Two courses for the Christmas menu was poor value £39. Bang bang chicken to start was fine, however, the main course of cod was ridiculously small. Also £8.50 for a very tiny glass of modest wine is pushing it. A pity, as was recommended to visit this restaurant."
