Stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting the island. Rooms clean and fairly spacious. Has a car park for residents. Short on staff at time of visit but those staff there were excellent friendly, helpful, and efficient. The breakfasts at the hotel were very... View all feedback.
What ppeffer doesn't like about Manor House:
We were staying the night so booked a table for dinner at 7pm, in the restaurant area, not the bar. We waited at the room's entrance to catch someone's eye (one other couple were inside, finishing up) After 10 minutes a young woman showed us... View all feedback.
Went here at 17:00 hours after reading on their own sign outside Food served all day from 12pm . Turns put food is not served all day, unless all day means til 4pm. Who stops serving food at 4pm? Table was also filthy. Wouldn 't bother, go back to the mainland for food.
Popped in for lunch on a day over to Lindisfarne. Despite advertising that they cater for gluten free, a disappointing menu. When I asked at the bar if they do anything gluten free, the barman said that anything gluten free will have GF after it on menu, but they can do any sandwich with gluten free bread. There were no meals suitable on menu, so I went back to bar and asked if their spread was dairy free. Barmaid gives a big sigh and goes to check. Comes back to say yes it is, what do you want- like it was a big inconvenience for her. It’s not my husbands fault that he has allergies. Such attitude makes me wonder how anyone goes back here. Sarnie was ok but they didnt seem to do it separate to normal food as hubby found a bit of grated cheese attached to his bread. If he hadn’t spotted it, he would have been I’ll. overpriced too as the bread was just normal sliced bread. WONT BE GOING BACK!
After a boat trip over from Seahouses, we walked to the castle on a lovely sunny day, had a mooch around the streets and an early lunch before our boat trip back. Good choice if sandwiched and a few other other lute bites on the menu. We chose one each and shared with a portion of fries, a couple of beers a looking out over the castle in the distance. Super beer garden here too. We will definitely return and next time plan to stay over a night or two.
Sorry but for the price not value for money, the room was small and lacking modern day facilities It's was very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. breakfast was good but dinner was below average for the price, The hole place needs a refurb, prices are very high for drinks and food but as you are some what a captive ordinance they think they can change what they like. We won't be coming back to soon.
We agree with the previous comments, stating that the food is a rip off. We called in for a bar meal on a Sunday afternoon. We enquired about the availability of crab and when advised that it could be provided, the four of us ordered crab, dill lemon Mayo on brown hedgehog bread. These came in the form of large rolls, but the crab consisted of a very meagre portion of purely brown meat, which was quite wet. None of us found a trace of white meat. At £13.95 for each sandwich, this amounted to scandalously poor value. The hand cut chips at £5.45 comprised, as noted by a previous reviewer, more bits than chips, some rather blackened through overcooking, most disappointing and vastly overpriced We advised the barmaid of our disappointment, particularly with the crab sandwiches. Her reply, that she would pass on our comments to the chef, indicated a complete lack of concern. Over many years we cannot recall paying so much for so unsatisfactory a meal and we left feeling totally cheated. If you appreciate good food and fair value for money, we recommend that you avoid this place.
