Such a quirky little place with very friendly service, lovely attention to detail (eg the little crochet mitts to hold the tea pots), very generous portions of cake and big pots of tea, and really delicious cake! We had the coffee and caramel gluten free cake and we ordered a second slice it was so good. Definitely to return! View all feedback.
What Gary T doesn't like about Biddy's Tea Room:
I haven’t got much to say about this place other than garbage. The poor girls working were clearly under staffed and over worked. Then there’s the arrogant patrons who walk through a door and leave it wide open behind them and walk to their table. Can let them off once but it kept happening. Seems the people of Norwich have lost their manners. This place is for students and stinkers. View all feedback.
We came from their other filials in alysham the same day, so they didn't eat here. I jumped out of curiosity to see if that's better. they had about two vegan cake options and no scones I asked) so they probably have to book in advance to be sure that a vegan afternoon tee. I have given three stars because it seemed fair to consider the other reviews, but I cannot comment on the quality of food.
With some omnivore friends flew into this tee room. I love the quirky mad-hatter-decor, but get that it could not be everyone taste. the woman who served us gave me a drain from the numerous vegan options and I went for the vegan cream cheese and gurken sandwiches and the vegan scone with vegan spread and jam. it was all delicious. they have many sorts of tee to choose, among them many crimped and they can choose to get a new mix with the mixes they have when they want. they have no milk if they like milk in their tee. it was a busy Saturday afternoon, but the service was fast and attentive. I plan to take some more vegan friends next time in the city.
Went here for coffee and cake, but as it is a tea room, they don't make any other coffee than filter as back in the 80s. the cakes were a little dry, the decoration strange and the service confusing. beyond that, it's just a little weird.
On Saturday they get a fresh cake from deerly beloved (a vegan bakery in norwich.) we enjoy going to biddys to get a piece of cake.
My son I booked up for afternoon tea we were seated in this nice tearoom upstairs. I had the traditional afternoon tea my son picked the high tea which he enjoyed. The staff were good friendly but when I was asked which type of tea I wanted they suggested breakfast tea i said so long as it’s strong both members of staff said o yes definitely! But I left it in the pot to brew for ages but couldn’t get any strength at all, I tried stirring it but it was very weak not enjoyable. The food was very good nice that you can pick from a selection of food for afternoon tea but you can only have one filling for the sandwich one scone either sweet or savoury one huge piece of cake, so although the food was good I prefer a selection of finger sandwiches, a mini savoury sweet scone two or three mini cakes which is usual for an afternoon tea elsewhere. Prices were ok. Nice atmosphere got quite busy.
