Giles is one of the northern suburbs most popular meeting places with a bustling ambiance and a superb deck overlooking the Craighall Park valley, offering a magnificent sunset view. It has been described as having a ‘Cheers bar’ like feel. Attracting an upmarket crowd, Giles is popular amongst young professionals, local residents, and sport fanatics. Founded in 1994 by the late Ian Baldwin Gillies and Jennifer Gillies, Giles was named after the famous British Comic ‘Giles’ and a word play on the family surname. After Ian’s passing in 2005, the business was taken over by his children; Ben and Kiarin. On the 1st of June 2018, the pub was sold to regular patrons who decided to keep it alive. The new owners introduced some changes; with the famous Founders Grill family from Florida now managing the restaurant area. The menu has been updated to satisfy even the most discerning food connoisseurs, and the wine list includes unique estates.
