Issues ranged from lackluster food quality and high prices to subpar service, with some highlighting the disappointing Sunday lunch offerings. Those who were more satisfied praised the history-rich ambiance, generous portions, and attentive service. Mixed reviews touched upon everything from dog-friendly policies to accessibility for elderly patrons. Overall, diners recommended a close watch on food quality and service, while noting that the establishment shows promise for future visits.
I wanted to support this big pub during the lockdown, so ordered 2 Sunday pickups. wow! they are huge! beautiful meat and a big yorkshire. had a piep through the windows to see that the hard work continues. looks brilliant and completely different, cannot wait for a big relaunch! well made youngs.
Wow! eating here is amazing, and they started eating too early on certain days. I and my husband have eaten at lunch and that was 5*, so we are the personal. really nice and attentive. we will be going back
The restaurant offers great value and delicious food, with generous portions. I enjoyed the Sunday lunch and dessert and appreciated the accommodating service.
Good service and food all round …choice limited on some items
3 adults for Sunday lunch. 12:45. Lovely Yorkshire puddings and vegetable options. Could have been a bit larger size portion and plate. 1 slice of beef and 1 slice of pork loin was the duo choice, that was more expensive than the regular. I can only assume you get 1 slice of either for the regular price. No option to relax with a drink beforehand. Maybe we should have arrived a little earlier than 10mins prior to booking! So we walked in, sat down and menu in hand in 30seconds, it would have been nice to be a bit more relaxed, and with extra drinks, money in their pocket : Very pleasant staff, service 10/10
