"Dry fish very little sauce and rice was blah. I was there years ago and it was much better. Food was less than tasty and very blah. I’ll give it a miss"

"Great burgers. Have that backyard bbq taste flavor. Well worth it. One star off because they only take cash and the staff could use some lessons in good attitude towards each other and the customer."

"First time here and we made reservations for pm when they opened. Our server was Wendy and she was so helpful! The salads were of high quality and tasted great! Absolutely loved the chimichurri sauce, delicious!!! The first hour the gauchos only came by with two different types of chicken, sausage, and lamb, which I didn't get because I wanted the flank steak, filet mignon, and picanha. Wendy checked-in with us to see if we were getting a variety of meats and we told her they hadn't come with the beef, so she got them to bring beef to our table. The main gaucho we had was very polite and awesome all around. They had a busser picking up plates, which I appreciated since our table was full. The garlic mashed potatoes were good, the plantains were cooked a bit differently than I'm used to, but they were still good. I didn't like the potatoes au grautin sauce or the mushrooms at all, the cheese bread wasn't very good, and the beans tasted funny. The meats do have a lot of salt, as I read on other posts. However, I appreciated being able to sample the different foods. Definitely a fun experience and beautiful presentation."

"Totally empty restaurant, with noise drifting in from the bar, on a prime corner at the beach in Ventura. Nice waitress, staff anxious to please. Overpriced on the food. Good sized glass of wine, Distant Bay Chardonnay "03, at $6.50, enjoyed it. Fresh chewy onion bread unfortunately paired with a tomato spread that was a waste of time. Ask for oil and balsamic, tasty. The calamari was uniform rings, small, no tentacles(my fave) but mostly tender and crisp. Again with the marinara. We asked for and got a thin garlic mayo. What is it with the calamari and marinara? The best I ever had was served with a butter, olive oil, herb sauce to drizzle over. Next was the Osso Buco, simmered “12 Hours” according to our waitress. Tough, no carmelization of vegies, weak sauce. I figured 2Hrs max, which was later confirmed by the cook. I had the Parmigiano carpaccini, which I usually love. Small portion. The kiss of death to this dish was the sweet dressing on the arugula. Baby arugula with my own touch of oil and lemon does it for me. We had a complementary creme brule for dessert(after the osso buco toughness). I use to vacation in Mexico once a year, and one year my friends and I had flan every night for dessert, and scaled it 1-10. This was a solid 6-7. Big enough for two, you could taste the egg, vanilla and cream, no big air bubbles.By the way, the winner in Mexico was at the zocolo in Oaxaca, a Portugese restaurant. The chef at Spasso must not smoke, everything needed a touch of salt. Maybe that’s a plus for some. When I asked how long they’d been open, they told me 10 months. Never heard of the place. What I felt was a lack of confidence, but promise."
