We felt so welcome here at our first night in Oakland, had a great experience in this bar. The bartender and the local crowd that night were so friendly. They gave us great suggestions on things to do in the city for Halloween Meltdown. Never thought to take the ferry while we were here otherwise and it ended up a favorite experience on our trip. I couldn't be a bigger fan of diving bars, and as a long-term neighborhood I was living, I thought to make this my local hangout. But really: $10 for a good gin tonic? No, thanks. Not if the same $10 could bring me a Mai Tai at Kona Club or a Saturno while Bar Cesar's Happy Hour. I hate to say, but it looks like this place isn't a real diver anymore.
