"We had breakfast here and the food was not very good. I had green chilaquiles thinking one could not got wrong with such a simple dish. But it did. My husband had a chile relleno torta and it was bleh. Overall, this is a place...to eat if there is nowhere else to go. We spotted other restaurants later in the plaza that looked a bit more desirable but we did not try them."

"We had a perfect evening at Alfonsina! I loved the journey to the restaurant in small streets of Oaxaca that reminded me of the Mexico I imagine as a kid! From the moment we walked in the staff were so kind, attentive and passionate about the authentic, refined and creative food and drinks they were presenting. The place itself is magic, like you’ve been invited into someone’s humble yet designy backyard. The lighting, art, architecture, the way the kitchen is sprawled across many stations made it a special experience. The story of the family is beautiful, we met the lovely chef Jorge and chatted about Australian and Mexican food culture. Every dish was excellent, but my favourite was the mushroom and bean soup. Really a must visit if you visit Oaxaca city. A culinary highlight of our time in Mexico."
