O Livramento - Olhão

We were greeted with a warm welcome and had an excellent meal here. Very fresh, large sardines and clams for starters. Then the most delicious meals of octopus shrimp (large prawns) spaghetti and octopus cooked in oil with potatoes. So tender, it melted in the mouth, we have never tasted octopus so good before! We were wary to start with as octopus not cooked well is like trying to chew a rubber band but they definitely knew what they were doing and treated it with respect. So sorry that we couldn’t finish the spaghetti, it was an enormous portion but delicious. All washed down with a very inexpensive but perfectly acceptable carafe of local house wine.Thank you! If you like octopus then this is the place to go.

Everywhere in Olhao has great seafood. However, Livramento is the best. All of their cataplanas are delicious, the feijoada is brilliant. More importantly, the service is fantastic, friendly but professional, chatty and fun. It was our favourite place to go in Olhao, over a week we probably went about 3 times!!

A good selection of traditional and local food, very tasty and reasonably priced highly reccomended

Lots of restaurants on the main drag and our first choices were full so we plumped for O Livramento and glad we did. Service was good we were offered a choice of covers. Went for the home made fish paste, olives and the fresh anchovies which were vinegary and garlicky and fresh. The house white wine was an Alentejo and perfectly good. We shared a starter of clams which were gorgeous. Plenty of dark and tasty bread to mop up the fantastic juices. Main courses were Dourade and grilled squid. Both with salad and potatoes. Fish was cooked well and was fresh. Squid was a little over cooked but tasty. I had a bit of food envy as the table next to us had a pot of skate (raia) which looked amazing. I’ll be back later in the week.

O Livramento is nice traditional Portuguese restaurant with good honest food and a friendly staff. The couvert is very nice with a fresh fish salad and the super fresh fish is perfectly grilled. The batatas fritas are perfect as well, crispy and dry, not sloppy and wet as in a lot of other restaurants. My wife had the Clams with pork which was also perfect. You can't go wrong choosing this restaurant.
