We both had Chubby burgers. Delicious, cooked all the way thru but juicy and yummy. Glad I had onion chips. Dipping sauce was very good.

The service is great!! The fish is great!! I have never been much of a tartar fan but their's is soooo good that I never say hold the tartar.

"I truly enjoyed the Asian Chicken Salad and the Turkey sandwich. The atmosphere was wonderful too. Too bad the pizza selections were not available this time. It was because it was all hands on deck to prepare a huge order to cater a 300-guest wedding party later in the day!! I was wowed when I heard that. I hope to try their pizza next time."

"A favorite stop on the way to Chicago. My husband and I traveled from central PA to Chicago several times a year from 2003 to 2007 while our son was attending Wheaton College. We hated eating at travel plazas and wanted to try something local. We got off I-80, just over the Ohio border in Indiana and discovered Clay's Family Restaurant on one of our first trips. Once we found Clay's we tried to stop there on the way to and way from Chicago....the only time we didn't stop was if we were traveling at night when the restaurant was closed. We loved the blue gill fish, pies, and pretty much everything else we tried. It is well prepared, homemade tasty, and served by cheerful helpful staff. It has been a few years since we have been there but I often tell guests staying at our bed breakfast who are traveling to Chicago about Clay's Restaurant. A number of them have stopped and reported back that they really enjoyed getting off the interstate highway and finding such a great place to eat. This morning I was telling my guests about Clay's...came online to print out the information for them and found this review site. Thus my belated review of a favorite eating place."
