"My first impression was that the restaurant was very nice and clean... the decor is very nice and ambiance lovely! Both servers were very nice! The bathrooms were super clean and new! The overall quality for price is very good! Some ingredients are even locally...sourced. My only negative is that most of the seating is bar height which I personally dislike, but that’s a personal preference. Would recommend!"

"Heirloom Bistro is a casual and unassuming place that serves up top notch food. Zomato reviews are bang on and admit the reason we ventured out of Ottawa to see for ourselves. Menu is short but there is something for everyone, we started with the tomato bisque soup and Stilton cheesecake appetizers both were simple in presentation but nuanced in subtlety of flavours and texture; the winner was the cheesecake which is a savoury cheese spread for the side of crostini. Our sever informed us that it is a favourite of the regulars (but isn 't always available depending on time of year). Next the mains, my bf enjoyed the salmon special (with asparagus and barley risotto), which was good but in contrast very different to my maple glazed braised beef (healthy versus indulgent), which was heavenly. We were informed the braised beef is slow cooked for 9hrs. It is served over top of two strips of bacon and a bed of leek purée with asparagus and small fingerling potatoes. The portion size of both appetizer and main is generous and we were both full but I wanted to try a dessert. That was the only minor blip, our first two dishes were so amazing that we expected the same level of creativity and execution for the dessert which we found to be meh in comparison. Overall food and service was fantastic !"
