The food is great and I highly recommend the “costeletão”. The tavern gives a game of thrones vibe, it’s lovely. The waiters are incredibly nice.

"As visitors of the Douro, we primarily came here for good wine. Amazing scenery came second. We stopped for a drink as being the only bar where we are staying in Tua. Asked for a glass of red understandably the staff’s English is limited we got a 1l of red. I wouldn’t ever mind that but the wine was not of a great quality. It came out of a box, dried my throat (hard to explain), was slightly sweet and was just a low cost wine which I have no issue with if it wasn’t for the fact that we were in a wine region not a student bar where drunk is the aim. I would have happily paid three times as much for less quantity and gotten better quality for an evening drink. Maybe my fault due to bad communication as I don’t speak Portuguese and couldn’t access better wines... hopefully other people had different experiences. A plus is that it’s he only place we saw our fave Portuguese beer sold (Sagres) AND they had it on tap. It’s a nice spot but we didn’t eat there and we were too embarrassed to return after not drinking our 4E litre of sweet box red."
