The New Inn - Penistone

Me and my husband decided to try this place for lunch on saturday,,The food was very nice we both had a sandwich and chips! The place wasn’t very welcoming at all!! We were told you can only sit in this area for food ,you order drinks at that till you order food at a different till! What!!! All very military!! She saw my husband had finished his drink during his meal but didn’t ask if he wanted another! Such a shame as the food was lovely!! Many pubs in the area with friendly service,We won’t return!! Very friendly service and clean, modern decor. Tasty, reassuring food. The steak and ale pie contained delicious steak, and came with enough pastry and chips to sink a battleship (hint to chef maybe ease off on the chips a bit? . Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I think you need to time your visit right as can be treated like a leper if not ordering food. Had to clamber over a table and shimmy across a shelve to get to what looked like a free table only to find a reserved sign. Watch out for the lighting too factor 50 advised. Tempted by pie Tuesday as food does look good so may give it another try one day.
