We had a very good lunch. 15€ set menu is excellent value. Starters were clever salads with a twist and main courses substantial and well-cooked. The terrace is incomparable in the area with views across the valley and surrounding hills. The service, contrary to some, was welcoming and attentive. Smiles and stars all round. Will go again. What Thibaut Fabre doesn't like about Le Patio d'Hauteville:
La cuisine n'est malheureusement pas à la hauteur du lieu...superbe terrasse et salle à l'intérieur très classe !Les plats sont corrects mais sans effort de présentation et sans grande recherche.Attention à ne pas négliger le client ! View all feedback.
I 've been here a number of times and have really enjoyed the food. It 's a great draw as the views are amazing. However, I booked online and was entitled to a 20% discount so that was welcome until I discovered that we both (2 people had to have the Carte menu and not the daily menu. My friend had a good starter followed by the duck. I had a reasonably good starter tiny pats of chevre covered in voluminous thin pastry with a salad (actually hard to find the chevre! . It was also extremely sweet with all the honey. Then I had the lamb knuckle great mistake! I had about 2 mouthfuls of lamb and the rest of the meat was just gristle! Not only gristle but it was tough too. I had my dog with me so she had the rest. I didn 't want a dessert but had just one ball of prune ice cream with a large ball of cream yuck! This is a really good restaurant but my message is to simply stick to what they know best i.e. the basic menu which is good, honest food. The fancy stuff is just not worth paying for. Perhaps not so important but there was just one waitress for only 5 tables. We were waiting for a lot of the time in spite of an imminent appointment.
Greeted well and seated promptly seated on the veranda overlooking the vista around Penne D’Agenais to the south. Given menu, the male server took our order and explained the menu of the day. Each course arrived promptly and was excellent both in presentation and taste, good portion size. Three things in some way spoilt what was a great lunch. 1. I begrudge and won’t pay for bottle of win costing as much a our food for lunch, no carafe available a glass was. 2. The female server was very automated, non verbal and non-smiling (as though she didn’t enjoy her job or being there. 3. On checking our bill we found it wasn’t ours, quickly rectified, this is not the first time of heard of it happening at this restaurant. After my rant I would still go back and would recommend for lunch, but beware.
What a great spot to sit and enjoy an evening, the views are stunning and so is the food. Visited a couple of times during a one week stay in the area and we were all very pleased with our food drink and the service. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked, so was the fish and duck. Presentation is excellent. Service is prompt and friendly and happy to help out my appalling french by speaking English. Good selection of wine, poor selection of gin unfortunately, the french do not seem to have caught onto the uk’s recent fascination with gin. Fantastic evening, loved it and can not recommend it highly enough.
The reviews for this restaurant have put us off returning, but as we live locally thought we should give it another try. We were very pleasantly surprised, the terrace and views are of course stunning, but the meal was also excellent. We had the menu du jour for 15€ and each course was very good. We have paid a lot more for a worse meal in other restaurants. Despite the previous reviews the staff we saw here were friendly and smiling. We will certainly return,
It was a beautiful and sunny Friday evening. The views from the terrace were great, a lot to look at. The atmosphere was just right, with the right background music. The service was excellent and we didn't have to wait long. Great food
