"Lucky is a very talented chef, everything we had was extremely delicious. We had 3 courses because we had to try as much as possible. Lucky came to our table and discussed his passion for cooking and told us a bit of his history coming to Australia and how he came to work for Hollick. He’s been on a real journey and we wish him well. Ben was a very attentive host with a sense of humour even if doesn’t like Chardonnay! Can’t recommend this place highly enough."

"A book for dinner in this great pub. they offered 2 seats we went with the election of 7.30. very busy and attentive employees who had to endure this evening pretentious mosquitoes and people who just came in and sat on already booked tables! eating was fantastic, barramundi and the beer scattered flathead. thanks to sophia and luke and the rest of the staff for their patient and professionalism."

"What a lovely country pub. Nothing flash to look at but one of the friendliest pubs I've been into for years. Food good old fashioned pub fare!! Large servings and very reasonable wine prices by the glass. My wife had barramundi and I had a...T-bone steak on our first visit. Then we both had the excellent special of grilled lamb loin chops with chips and salad for our second visit for only $20! You can't buy chops in the supermarket for that. Exactly what we wanted."

"Not much to choose from in Penola so called in for a sausage roll with sauce. Terrible. Burned on the bottom, thick pastry, dried out at each end and the sliver of tomato sauce put on by the server was hardly there. Cheap at $3.70...but only part after pulling off pastry bottom and ends. So disappointed."

"What a lovely place for tapas. A beautifully decorated dining area. High long table; lounge chairs near a fireplace; regular dining tables; plenty of space; relaxed atmosphere. Wonderfully prepared food. We shared five plates between two and that was more than enough. Sole waiter was attentive, talkative and did not seem under pressure waiting on the twenty or so diners while we were there. A very enjoyable, reasonably priced meal. Definitely would return when in Penola."
