"I attended pickled herring today for lunch. It has been hit and miss with all the owner changes over the last few years. We arrived with only one other person at the venue (who only ordered an tea) and waited over 40 minutes for two meals. Had to check up on them twice and ended up having to ask for take away as our toddlers had become agitated waiting. What eventually came out was atrocious. See attached pictures, chips for both meals were somehow burnt and uncooked at the same time. My friend couldn’t eat her chicken burger, poorly constructed then didn’t trust the large chicken piece in it has been cooked right. Chicken parmigiana was disgusting. Burnt breaded crumb that literally snapped in half. Chicken hopefully cooked to temp but who knows. Cold tomato sauce on top and barely left under a light to melt the cheese on top. I suppose maybe the oil needs changing? It was very poor. Considering Neptune’s next door was closed, you would think capitalising on the droves of people would have helped their business. One of the waitresses was very apologetic and seemed stressed as she ended up dealing with quite a few irate tables when food was taking so long. Someone asked for a refund and she looked pretty scared to deal with the chef. They then closed the kitchen at 12.30pm? At least that’s what I heard a group of 8 people say as they walked off confused. Oh, and having bags of Black and Gold chips brought in by a waitress makes me feel even worse about giving them $28 for my parmi. Do yourself a favour and go to neptunes, if it’s closed, check out the bakery around the corner."

"This place doesnt look like much but its so worth a visit.We have read so many good reviews about this place but until now havnt been able to enjoy it as they didnt do veggie burgers (hubby is a vego) but they do them now!!!! Holy moly the burgers are good!!! I had the chicken burger and the grilled chicken pattie was amazing and soooo juicy and delicious. Hubby had the veggie burger and he said it was one of the best he ever had. Burgers come with a side of chips and a side "salad", as we had it takeaway and the "salad" was just a bag of mixed lettuce but the chips were pretty good. A tad pricy but not too bad considering what gormet burger places charge."

"My wife and I treated ourselves to breakfast recently at the Elixir Cafe. This truly is a top spot and head and shoulders above any other similar establishment in the northern suburbs. The service is extremely friendly and professional and the food is, and always has been, of the highest standard. We find the indoor area a trifle noisy for our taste (not a criticism by the way) so we usually take a table outside. One further comment about the staff is that every member appears to fully understand the importance of good customer relations, not always apparent elsewhere. A nice touch by the management is the provision of blankets in case of inclement weather and on this occasion my wife took advantage of this offer. We visit this establishment on a regular basis and on every occasion we leave well satisfied and feeling that we've had a memorable experience. Keep it up Elixir, you're doing a marvellous job."
