I've been visiting this coffee shop regularly since I moved to Philadelphia three years ago. If you're in the neighborhood, there's no reason to go anywhere else! They offer fresh pastries, excellent coffee, and friendly staff—everything you could possibly want. View all feedback.
What Benna267 doesn't like about Benna's Cafe:
What an AMAZING place! I was really drawn to try this restaurant because it shares my unique name, and it turned out to be a flavor celebration! The service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was unparalleled. They're definitely doing my name proud, haha! I've never met another Benna before, so this is a MUST-TRY spot in South Philly! Cute cafe with a cozy ambience, lots of tables and chairs to sit and enjoy a break from the hustle and bustle of the nearby Italian market. The coffee/espresso is nice and rich/toasty flavor and they have a wide range of in house and local made pastries, cookies and snacks.
Lovely, cozy little spot. Very homey vibe and a comfy contrast to many of the slick, impersonal spots in the city. Prices extremely reasonable.
What a FABULOUS establishment !!! I was extremely enticed to try this place as it shares my uncommon name ..... what a flavor fiesta! The service was great ! The ambiance unmatched ! They are most certainly doing my name justice haha! I have never met another benna :)A MUST TRY in south philly!
Careful: OWNER HARASSING CUSTOMER!Edit: Please see owner’s response to me! She continues to state we harass her when she INITIATED messages to my husband (not other way around over period of 20 minutes continuously assaulting harassing him even in her response! I am really confused about what’s extreme rude in us asking if the shop had cheese that we asked for. We always just come in, grab stuff, and leave. We order online, so we actually never even talk to staff. The only times we did talk is to ask about messed up orders and even that, not every time. So many times we let it slide.Today we called on the phone then my husband received a number of very rude harassing texts from the owner, Nancy. He had to ask her to stop messaging him in fear of future harassment. For about two years my husband and I would order from this place couple of times a week. The tab would come to good 20 bucks almost every time. For a corner coffee shop with prices of 4-5 bucks an item, 20 is a good check. Many times, the staff would mess up our orders. I cannot tell you how many times. On top of it, poor customer service; we come every week, they act like they still don 't know us.The owner never says hello. What 's more interesting today the owner confronted my husband (by personally texting him! via personal message that she cannot do anything about [his] personal preference when again our order was messed up.She also literally schooled my husband over a plastic cup for dog water that they gave us. She stated that it was a curtesy to give our dog a water on a 90 degree day.Mind you, the business either has a dirty empty dog bowl with water outside or none at all. We forgot to take the cup with us.So the owner confronted my husband in the message stating we littered and that trash belongs in a trash can, [insert name] .The owner did not stop there. She continued to harass my husband over personal messages stating that he needs to adjust his expectations as a customer or take his business elsewhere . She said she is exhausted by [his] unrealistic expectations as a customer . Word for word. There are text messages to prove. So basically--if you still choose to go there, HAVE YOUR EXPECTATIONS LOW! I have given this ungrateful business owner a lot of my money over the years. Frankly, ONLY because it is next door to me. But today was a grand finale. To add, the place has a very dirty cheap interior with dust all over the place.I have never in my life seen a business owner harass a customer! Not in US nor in many other countries I have lived/been.
