What Jennifer R likes about Gaby Et Jules Macaron Boutique:
The pastries in this shop must be seen to be believed. They look like works of art. Incroyable! The macarons are sold in boxes of 6, 12, 15 or 24. They are some of the best I have ever tasted. Tip: try the Pittsburgh peanut butter. Staff was lovely and explained that everything is made onsite by a French master pastry chef. They have three locations, but the Squirrel Hill location is so charming. View all feedback.
What F L doesn't like about Gaby Et Jules Macaron Boutique:
3 stars might be more fair, but I 'm rounding down because I genuinely don 't understand all of the good press. As a fair caveat, I 've never had their fancy stuff like macarons or elaborate cakes. That said, the basics, pastries and breads, are just average. The baguette has an ok crust, but tastes more like white bread underneath than like a real baguette. The chouquettes are too heavy and don 't taste especially fresh, and the croissants are very squishy. Expensive for what it is, and their competitors (LG and Madeline) are both substantially better at all 3 things.
Literally wasn’t open. Store hours state they open at 10am everyday. I was there at 10 am, waited 10 minutes, and left bc I was going to be late for my flight....
