The tavern has a great location right by the sea. The staff is nice and attentive. Paying took a long time. The menu has a good range of Greek dishes. The prices are surprisingly affordable for this great location. The portions were large and quite good so far. The moussaka could have been a little more seasoned. Free WiFi is available. We wanted to go to another taverna first, but luckily we decided otherwise. We ended up at this restaurant and it was just breathtaking. The atmosphere next to the beach is amazing, the food is fresh and of good value and the sunset is stunning. We had a table close to the sea, saw the sun set behind the ocean and enjoyed the golden hour in Falassarna. To eat we ordered as a starter the Cretan Salad, Taramasalata and Dolmadakia. Main Course was Shrimp spaghetti and grilled Squid. The Cretan Salad was fresh and very tasty the rest of the starters really good as well. 5 points are given for the Shrimp spaghetti which were phenomenal, the shrimps and pasta perfectly done, the sauce rich in flavour. Amazing. The grilled squid was fresh and it was the best we had so far on Crete. Definitely a taverna worth visiting. Also the host was friendly and service was fast. Parking: Big parking lot next to the taverna

Bread and water were left out without asking and charged for, even though we didn't even open the water, I don't like that at all.
Delicious fish, and funny story. I dined at Captain Nicolas on my first night in Crete. Fresh, delicious fish and Cretan salad. Beautiful place right on the beach. Loved it. Fast forward two weeks. I’m stranded on a cliff in Falasarna at like 9 PM on a Sunday night after my car battery died. I tried stopping 2 or 3 cars and they were nice but none of them had a solution. Third car I stop is a pickup truck with an older local couple inside. Although they didn’t know me at all and didn’t speak much English, they went out of their way to rescue me. They drove me around the area speaking to other drivers til they found the HOME address of the local car mechanic in Platanos. They drove me over there so he could come fix my car, and they even offered to put me up in their hotel for the night (didn’t need to use the hotel but still nice). As sheer coincidence would have it, turns out the husband was “Captain Nicolas” himself, and he and his wife were the owners of this great restaurant where I had dined two weeks before. They were so sweet and kind and happen to run a fabulous restaurant. 5 stars for captain Nicolas. Only in Crete!
