We chose to have a light lunch at this restaurant and were pleasantly surprised to find a $17 lobster roll on the menu, despite being in a remote area of the Cabot Trail. The portion of lobster in the roll was generous and the taste and texture were fresh, even though we were told it was from mainland Canada due to it being outside of lobster season. The service was friendly and efficient. View all feedback.

We were pretty cold and hungry when we reached Pleasant Bay. It was very early season, and when we saw that this place was open we were happy for the chance to eat. The homemade soup was delicious. The rest of the food was mediocre - veggies were all from tins or frozen. The wine was from Nova Scotia and certainly good enough. Service was adequate. Not a place I'd set as a goal, but it certainly served our purposes. View all feedback.
The woman and I thought for a quick lunch and everyone ordered a bowl of chowder. Two bowls of Chowder and two fountains were about $30. The food was okay, not great. A bit expensive I think
Do you want to eat gruel? The "Poutine" was made with a melted cheese that was not authentic, so it cannot be considered real poutine! The "krab" burger only contained fake crab meat, and the "Grosse" was nothing but thick, brown water. I am puzzled by how any grown adult would serve this type of food to customers for actual money. The quality of the food is subpar. It's a shame that they don't just stick to serving actual food with real flavor. It shouldn't be that hard!
If you can, it's best to drive a little further unless you have a pressing need to eat for health reasons. Our group tried a variety of dishes, but none of them met our expectations. The fish and chips were overcooked, and the chowder resembled warm milk with a few pieces of salmon, haddock, or cod and what seemed like frozen potatoes. The menu is displayed on a large chalkboard at the front of the restaurant, right next to where customers are seated. There was no consideration for Covid precautions or social distancing. I would not recommend dining at this restaurant.
Do not go to this restaurant. Ordered a chowder, shrimp pasta, a burger and two fountain sodas. Chowder was watery and had basically no seafood in it. The pasta was loaded in oil and there were no more than 5 shrimp about the size of a dime. The burger was absolutely disgusting: dripping in oil. The service was also terrible: No one came to check on us. The final insult was a $70 bill! And no, the restaurant was not busy and they were not understaffed.
My husband and I had nothing that was even close to a below-average meal. I had an appetizer (please do not order the chowder, I quake to think of it being served to a tourist !! and a main course, my husband had a main course, all different selections. The best part of the meal was the water. I don't know how a frozen French fry could be so tasteless. Overcooked food, absolutely no flavour...how expensive is a bit of herb or spice ? The waitress was lovely.
