Prime location in Port Aransas, historical hotel, old rooms (it shows), and a haunted history in a Port town... what more could you ask for?!?... The long porch with rocking chairs is super relaxing!Walkability: It's centrally located in the heart of the island...Noteworthy details: It's haunted!!! ? View all feedback.
What Clarabelle Moen doesn't like about Roosevelt's At The Tarpon Inn.:
Old. History. Cute. Clean. Staff is polite. Conveniently located. The outside lights are so bright that at night so much light comes through front door you read by it. 3 stars because of price. It is not a $320 a night hotel. They can charge $320 a night because the other hotels fill up. Located anywhere but a tourist town it would be $50 a night. We will plan better and stay somewhere next time. View all feedback.
I usually never give a one-star review but my experience at Roosevelt 's was absolutely awful. I booked a reservation here months in advance for my birthday trip and confirmed my time and date. I was so excited to have dinner here with my husband for my birthday as I had read online how great the food is. Unfortunately, when we arrived the hostess said she could not find my reservation. She raised her voice and told me to speak up as she waved menus around clearly frustrated at the situation. She and the other hostesses were very rude (eye-rolling, stomping, huffing) needless to say standing there being yelled at in front of the restaurant on my birthday for something that was not my fault was very humiliating. I began to get teary-eyed and that is when suddenly they were able to find our table...we did not stay for dinner. I could not sit there and enjoy a glass of wine or food from people who would so easily berate and humiliate a customer over their own mistake in booking. The basic rule in hospitality is respect. If you cannot get that down, you should not be in the food service industry. Luckily, my husband called around and we found a much better place where the staff is welcoming, kind, and the food is unparalleled. Montego Bay. The only place on the island that provides a true fine dining experience with ambiance and hospitality. They also do not make you cry on your birthday. You get chocolate martinis instead <3
Went to this place with my boyfriend and the food was AMAZING. Fresh fish, good oysters, amazing sauces. Do yourself a favor and get the white chocolate bread pudding...best dessert I've ever had. Amazing service as well!!!
We had dinner our last night in Port A. We came in closer to closing time than we would of liked to but they were very accommodating. No bad vibes. The food was prepared fresh. They food was great. A hidden treat. Very clean and very attentive. They went above and beyond to make it a perfect evening. Thank you guys!
Delicious food and wonderful service! There is a dress code (courses are OK for men, but button down or collar shirt required).
Went with a party of 9 celebrating a birthday, food was 5/10, waiter service was pretty good. General Manager did not even finish us 2 minutes after dessert when drinking our wine bottles. We also noticed the General Manager when she went around our table and tried to show how much we had to pay at the end and laugh about it. We spent a big one to be respected and kicked out while we still enjoy our drinks.
