"Stayed at Haida House in August for six days in one of the cabins it was amazing and I didn't want to leave. The cabins are tastefully decorated and have everything you could need including a hot tub ! Perfectly situated in the woods close to the beach I had the best night's sleep in a long time. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful with amazing customer care and attention to detail. Food is amazing and they catered to my veggie needs. If I could give more than five stars I would fantastic"

"Located in the heart of Port Clements, Yakoun River Inn is one of two restaurants in this small Logging city. The pub has been in the community for about three decades and has established itself as one of the best places to eat on Haida Gwaii. As I grew up, I had heard many a story about this place from my father, who often stopped here for a bite on his way out of the camp. So it was in a way neat to sit in a facility he had visited often before. I guess when he came in today, he'd say it looks exactly as it did during his visits. The decor of the pub is the vintage at the end of the 1970s; when you go in, you know that you have stepped into a small town of Logging Pub: an almost rustic feeling with old chairs; classic magnetic menu; huge moose antlers on the wall; Darts and pool tables, and Keno decorate the place. Personally I love places like these because they have character – they do not look like the Blande, sterile, minimalist restaurants of the current era. I visited the Yakoun River Inn for lunch. The place was relatively quiet (I suspect it will become more business in the evening), so the service was quite fast. I ordered the buffalo wings as starters and fish chips. The wings were very well done – beautiful and saucy as I like them! And the fish chips – wow! You were a real surprise. Given my experience with pub food, I expected something decent, with probably something too much coating and type of fat; but the fish chips here were the exact opposite: slightly broken, perfectly cooked fish and not greasy in the least. I definitely didn't expect that quality. And, like someone who had a lot of fish and chips offered at the Yakoun River Inn, are easy in my “top 5”. A final comment: I didn't feel out of place here, unlike Angela's place. I know this observation is more of a psychological thing than knocking on some food, but for me it was still a nice feeling. So, that said when you come past the “verged decor” and pass to find yourself in Port Clements, do yourself a favor and stop from a local institution for some excellent food, good people and great views of Masset Inlet! FOOD: 4/5 SERVICE: 3.5/5 VALUE: 4/5 RECOMMENDATION: Thumb! Just the best food in the city of Port Clements."
