We enjoyed a stop at this attractive, historic building for lunch. It is situated off the main shopping area with the parking catering for a large caravan. Inside the cafe are plenty of table and chairs and a large array of crafts for sale. We enjoyed a homemade vegetable soup with gf toast and a shepherds pie with potatoe and vegetables, and a cappuccino. Staff were very friendly. Good amount of gluten free options... I belong to a local travel group who had booked in to the Salt of the Earth for a ‘Christmas Lunch’.There was a main and a desert: main meal which came out just warm with half the plate covered in salad, one piece of dried up turkey roll meat with potato and pumpkin that tasted like they had been reheated and swamped in garlic! This was an excellent use of my money and time on one of the evenings I had free time on my own.
This quaint little restaurant could be wonderful, it is warm and inviting and beautifully located at the foot of Bayeux Cathedral .. But, it is not.
