Classic Maine Italian is really good. Their other menu items are fantastic as well. These guys come from the long tradition of Maine mom and pop convenience stores with exceptional in-house sandwich (and other entree) offerings View all feedback.
What Mattie Wehner doesn't like about Amato's:
Your lobster roll! My mother called and wanted a salad. Well, they said no, you need to choose a prefabricated salad if you come here it would kill the buyer to just grab a garden salad and add to the order? She didn't get her salad because I was on my way to pick him up and the buyer never told me. View all feedback.
REAL Italians!. Amatos serves REAL Italians unlike the chains of Subway that serve subs or hoagies. It's owned by the same people who ran the Village (so you know it's gonna be good! .<br/ <br/ You will never find a sandwich anywhere else in the world like the ones at Amatos. If you grew up on Amatos and are transferred out of state this means you're going to spend years longing for those oily, sour pickle, oil based tomato topped sandwiches. Their ingredients are fresh and instead of smothering them in lettuce, they rely on sweet green peppers, sour pickles, and fresh tomatoes that taste like they've been basted in olive oil.<br/ <br/ They offer great pasta dishes too such as their twice baked zitis, and their calzones are the only calzones I've had that haven't been made with ricotta cheese (which is AMAZING! . Their little veggie roll appetizers are awesome as well and really hit the spot. They offer real pizza that isn't made with frozen crusts or frozen sauces and their toppings are hearty and zesty.<br/ <br/ Amatos offers GREAT Italian food and once you leave Maine and experience the garbage served in the rest of the United States, you'll soon miss their hearty proportions and authentic tastes.
For a quick bite. I was skeptical to eat here seeing them all over Maine. If you just want a salad or some quick pasta this is the place
A Maine local favorite sandwich pizza takeout place!
Loved the food and service but hated there was no customer bathroom
The sandwich was amazing. I believe it was the double Italian. Way better than a previous experience at a different Amato's.
