I absolutely adore Azteca. The restaurant side is perfect for a quick takeout or a meal with the family, but the real gem is the bar area. With Mexican music videos playing, a fantastic tequila selection, unbeatable burrito and drink specials, and Joaquin always crafting the most delicious burritos, the staff is also wonderful. I just wish they would stay open later. View all feedback.
What Kirstin Nader doesn't like about Burrito Azteca:
First off, we all know you shouldn't be able to finish a burrito. It's supposed to be the size of your head, so you can eat 2/3 of it now, and enjoy the rest later. Burrito Azteca used to live by this standard. But over the last year, they've upped their prices by a third AND shrunk their portions by a third. I get inflation, but have our stomachs suddenly shrunk too!? Why downgrade to a much smaller burrito that lea... View all feedback.
We found this spot through a friend. An easy go to delivery meal for us! So far in Portland, 1st place I'd order Mexican from. We've tried a lot since moving here a few months ago. Burritos are very big, chips and salsa are delicious! Horchata is good but a little on the chalky side, still yummy. We've ordered 3 times. Oh and the green salsa for the burritos! Yummy!!
The food was exceptional. Greta service, friendly prices and super affordable. would highly recommend coming back!
Great food! DO NOT ORDER TAKEOUT ONLINE!! Online super burrito $16.04 In person/phone call $11.75 I cannot believe the markup without direct communication Will return, reminder food is Great here!
I visited El Burrito Azteca a few weeks ago for the first time. I'm enjoying trying Mexican restaurants in Portland and I'm happy to note that I enjoyed my visit and burrito at this restaurant. This restaurant is in the Portland Eater Article which features 14 big burritos in Portland. The burrito that is highlighted is the Surfin California which includes guacamole, shrimp, asada, and fries. It's not my usual order but I enjoyed the burrito and the two salsas available to put on it. The horchata was good. The service was good as well. Overall, it's a great taqueria to visit if you are close by.
I have enjoyed El Burrito Azteca for years, going back wo when it was El Burrito Loco. But my most recent visit was visit was awful. I was double charged and when I went to the restaurant to as for a refund, I was told that it was impossible to for this to happen. I presented the bank statement with the double charge. The woman told me she would talk to the manager and get back to me. 24 hours later I called back and was told again that it's impossible for me to be double charged. I started to argue with the woman on the phone and she told me she would send me proof but then hung up on me and blocked my call. The manager never called me back and there was no apology for the mistake. I have the receipt and the back statement to prove the double charge, but they refused to believe it happened. It was not a lot of money and being gracious would have gone a long way. But their refusal to even call me back makes me think they really do not care about customer service. I used to love this place, but the food has gone downhill and with this most recent lack of customer service I feel the need to never return to this place.
