Hmmm... I could have sworn I 'd written a review of Ocean City long ago. Despite continuous change on 82nd and on Division, this remains my favorite for reliable Dim Sum. The carts are well stocked and make the rounds very quickly. We never have a problem finding old favorites as well as newer, that looks interesting selections. Like pretty much all Dim Sum places I 've visited, I never have any kind of idea how much... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Ocean City:
Can 't say that this was one of the best dimsum I 've ever had in Portland, because it tasted just 'okay '. The skins of the dumplings were somehow too thick and chewy (on my har gao, shrimp cheong fan and shrimp&cilantro dumplings). Turnip cake that I ordered was too soft and oily and I couldn 't finish it. The only menu that impressed me was xiao long bao. Service was not bad, I didn 't wait long to have the waitre... Posting this just after the COVID mask mandate ended...I'm so glad they made it through! The great dim sum here hasn't lost its touch. They're not doing steam carts yet, but the waiter dropped off a menu and tea, then we picked what we wanted and he delivered it.Steamed pork buns, chicken feet in black bean sauce, eggplant, sticky rice, sesame balls... It's all the same wonderful stuff and served fresh, just like always. Still highly recommended!
Food was prepared in less than 30 minutes on a Sunday night. My favorite dish here would have to be the king mushrooms with vegetables and spicy seafood with tofu. Both were very flavorful and not too salty. Rest of the dishes I ordered included salt peppered squid, sizzling beef, and scallops with xo sauce were mediocre. Prices were comparable other other Chinese restaurants in town. Overall I would come here again if I was in the mood for Chinese food
Empty. Too much white pepper in everything. Shame. This place used to be at least standard:
The worst dim sum in Portland! The restaurant itself smells really bad and looks dirty. Several customers walked in at 11 am, when they actually open and it took 20 minutes to order food. They sat everyone at tables first which means they didn 't take orders from people that came in first. There was only one person taking orders, passing food, seating people. They didn 't give any waters to us or many others either. They marked many popular items on their menu OUT but turns out people still ordered them and we had to order different items because we had no idea that they didn 't update their menus. They brought one plate of dim sum every 10 minutes. Then our last plate was supposed to be the house special pan fried noodles but it didn 't mention it had like 3 different types of protein (pork, shrimp, chicken) and half of it was burned the other half and was sitting in what looked like broth. Definitely NOT pan fried noodles! Not only was it bland, they burned half of it ! You can tell most of the people came because HK cafe was too busy, that 's why we did. I still smell like the horrible Restaurant and super upset I had to eat bland dim sum. Please do yourself a favor and just wait in line at HK cafe because the wait time will still be the same or longer.
