"Cute little cafe serving standard breakfast fare (and more later in the day, but I can only comment on the breakfast). Fast service even on a busy Sunday morning. If you're an aviation buff the decor is sure to keep you entertained. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Worth a stop even if you're not going to the airport already."

"Perfection - where outstanding location, beautiful warm ambiance and exceptional cuisine intersect.If you could picture the nicest cape cod type venue, located in a geographic marine location know world wide and sit down to the most remarkable seafood dinner “ever” I might call that a tall story. Not now. It happened.Our good friends in Powell River took us out to the end of Highway 101 , which first opened in 1962 and is derived from that of U.S. Route 101. The end of the road is Lund BC and just prior to that you take a right and head to the Laughing Oyster located on the shores of Okeover Arm facing Desolation Sound.As you walk in the warm decor of the restaurant incorporates inside with outside seamlessly. The colours and textures and multi levels defy the isolated location. And you can smell the dishes and see the dishes and you are immediately focused on a meal you are about to have. You sip lovely wine and snack on tasty appetizers and enjoy the vista of water and sails and forest and mountains.The menu is extensive and inclusive. I of course knew immediately what I was going to have as I looked around to see what other tables already seated had ordered were doing. I saw the bouillabaisse. OMG.Anything that arrived prior to our main meal was so well presented and it matched in flavour and tastes.The bouillabaisse is a super generous portion so we were able to share and the two couples did just that. It was a remarkable dinner with all the sniffing of spices and noises of enjoyment that follow with such. I highly recommend using your fingers as well as the utensils supplied. I didn’t lick the plate but I wanted to.You won’t be disappointed with whatever you order I’m sure. And you will be remembering those tastes and that venue long into the evening and next day.If you get a chance and your in that area I would recommend you make a reservation and make the thirty minute drive from Powell River to the Laughing Oyster. The host is warm and friendly with a sense of humour as are the staff and the host/chef I believe takes pride in every single dish served.How lucky were we? Did I say make a reservation?"

"Get the Quinoa sliders and the Acrorn Squash "salad" with wild mushrooms. Superb. Service excellent. View OK. I wish somehow they could hide or paint the ugly businesses with black flat roofs that lie between the restaurant and the water."
