What User doesn't like about Taverna Octapus:
I checked this restaurant earlier in the day as I wanted to be sure we could get a vegetarian meal, The waitress could not have been more helpful, having plenty of suggestions on how they could adjust the menu to ensure our needs were met. We chose a table inside as the restaurant is on the busy main road in Prien, and even the glass screens can't hide that. The inside is lovely, and someone has gone to the trouble of arranging little displays on the window ledges in different colours. The walls are also very thick, so on our visit on a very hot day, the inside was lovely and cool. The shared plate of a selection of Greek starters was excellent, and gave us a taste of a wide range of food. The main courses were served quickly and the food was well cooked. They served a full range of cocktails, and the white wine complimented the food perfectly. Really good authentic greek food - Moussaka, Kleftico and Taramasalata,
Despite randomly walking in on a busy evening -with lots of tables already full of customers and most of the rest being reserved- we were welcomed quite friendly and seated probably at the only empty table left at the moment. The service was very swift and the meals were fresh and tasty. We tried fried sardines, grilled octopus and zucchini-eggplant fritters; all of which I would recommend to those who miss seafood as much as we do. It was a pleasant dinner. If only I did not have to drive and enjoy more of that ouzo greatness.
We pulled into Prien am Chiemsee for lunch and wandered around a bit before stumbling on this lovely restaurant. Whilst there was no English menu, the staff were very friendly and did their best to explain. Our meals were tasty. My younger daughter had the calamari which she really enjoyed. My older daughter had the three meat souvlaki which was delicious. My wife had the spicy pork medalians and I had duck with mushrooms - unusual but very tasty. Also a decent selection of wines and beers. Highly recommended
Surprisingly full on a Sunday evening so good we had a reservation. I ws starving for a good mixed grilled plate and especially looking forward for some liver. We ordered peperonies with gralic and pita as an entree, both good but not special. for a starter huge plate. As second I ordered the gilled plate and I asked to have liver instead of something else, my friend requested half a portion liver which turned out to be almost the same size as the regular size.Gyros and tsatsizi were good, but the bifteki and the liver where completely burned and dry.All together nice ambience and staff, but disappointing food and this the main focus when I go to a restaurant. Never again.
