"They have about 10-12 tables. I got there at noon and all tables available. At 1255pm all tables full and they apparently take reservations. Had soup, chickpea salad for main, tea, berry crumble for dessert. Great food, all for €7.50."

"Portuguese food has always represented a mystery to me. The country has everything it needs to offer no less than other competing Mediterranean culinary traditions as the Italian or the Greek. And indeed some Portuguese dishes are very original and rich in taste. Yet, if...you visit the country looking forward to try local delicacies you might find yourself quite disappointed by the choice offered by the vast majority of the restaurants. Apart from the famous “bacalhau” and its different recipes, most of the dishes consist of grilled meat and fish with potatoes and rice. Full stop. This is what people like and this is what you get. When we came at “Ferrugem” I wanted to see if these simple dishes could find their way into a gourmet table without being heavily altered by an international influence (these was,in my opinion, the case of the exquisite Yeatman restaurant in Porto). Chef Renato Cunha gave us the proof that this was possible. We went for the degustation menu with courses for EUR (you might also chose courses or courses for approximately a EUR difference) and enjoyed it from the beginning to the end! Every single dish was a gateway to the most ancient Portuguese tastes, adding a discrete modern touch which makes them lighter, more enjoyable and creative. The wine pairing met expectations: from a fresh vinho verde to the full-bodied Douro white, you can travel across the flavours of Portugal northern region. This is a restaurant that could make foodies happy and locals discover the potential of this country beyond the four walls of their granmas’ kitchens. Hopefully a new generation of chefs like Cunha might be able to lead a culinary revolution that will allow the country to raise its standards without betraying its past. Parabéns!"

"Lovely friendly family feel restaurant, with very tasty and good value food. We both had steaks which were great and a delicious flan for dessert. Loved the overall ambience (felt very traditional in a great side street setting) and the friendliness of the waiters. Would definitely recommend."

"Some time ago, while walking through braga I noticed this packed little restaurant (it was a Friday night) almost hidden in a corner in the city part senhora a branca. what hit me most were the happy, joyful expressions of the malice at eating. I have to come next time in braga, I thought, and so the time came and I went, together with my sister, to this wonderful place. a Tuesday evening and a bit early for Portuguese pattern, in the environment there were already two people. service was fast, friendly and impeccable, always with good advice. we have to share for a few petiscos (tapas in Portuguese) and a main dish that there was absolutely no objection. we also ordered two glasses house wine, a wise choice (don't remember his names). one of the petiscos was a serving of cured cheese and it was heavenly! Cheese lover, yuo can't happen. the other was something new for me, called azedo. it comes from the northeast corner of portugal and it was a taste party u mouth. I can only describe it as a kind of alheira sausage, but it was served without the cover, on the top sauteed collar greens just wonderful! the main dish was roasted costela mendinha I think it is called short nativity served with the wonderful baked carrots and some other side servings that seemed seasonal. I will come back"
