Amazing ambiance out of the world food. A beautiful bungalow restaurant in Pondicherry where you eat under the bougainvilleas. Hands down the best meal I had in my latest trip to the French heritage city.
I ordered a cold aubergine salad which just exploded with flavors and went perfectly with the slightly warmer weather. For dessert we had the dark chocolate mousse with lemon cream and I would have given 5 stars... View all feedback.
What Amrita Pingle doesn't like about La Villa:
La Villa's seven-course tasting menu is a revelation. The courteous staff explained every course to us and we had the pleasure of meeting the Chef who explained his passion for sourcing local ingredients and changing the menu every days. This is certainty not food that everyone will enjoy but this is truly one of Pondy's gems. If you want something unique, with resonance, and great flavours, this restaurant has to be... View all feedback.
Beautiful ambience with lots of green. The villa is the perfect place to enjoy a romantic dinner in the evening. The villa itself is charming and the outdoor seating is a quiet and peaceful setting away from the noise of the city. The service is quick and courteous. We ordered the lobster and the green noodles. Both were covered in upscale dining style. Better than that, the food tasted as good as it looked. A single dish is pretty big for one person and unfortunately we couldn't finish our dish. But we will definitely come back during our stay.
Ambience 5/5 , Food Quality 5/5, Service 4/5, Quantity 4/5. Near Perfect Food experience. Couldn't have got better. Had been with my whole family after a trip to the beach. We came here since the La Shanti was booked and full. I'm so glad we found this place. The Food was visually appealing, every flavor was experienced and every texture of the food as described by the restaurant Captain. Amazing ambience , open air breeze, whispers in a mixture of French and Tamil. The staff are few but they cooked something amazing for us on a weekday afternoon. Top 3 Dishes amongst what we tried. Zuccini & Herb Rolls Mango Mousse Corn Coated Crispy Fried Prawns ( MUST TRY) The pictures shall speak for themselves. Shall be the first place I drop in during my next visit to Pondicherry.
Ambiance - Check | Food - Check | Service - Could be a tad bit speedier | Value-for-money - Check | Revisit? Definitely! We visited La Villa for lunch while on an impromptu weekend trip to Puducherry. Originally intending to dine at Villa Shanti, we were directed to La Villa by the Villa Shanti crew, since there was no table available at the latter.Set in a bungalow reminiscent of the old French homes in Puducherry, La Villa serves continental cuisine, and a good selection of seafood dishes. The outdoor seating is recommended, since the area is shaded by trees, and the fans are always running; however, on a particularly hot day, I'd recommend sitting inside the bungalow. We ordered the following items - Starters - Corn-coated crispy-friend prawns Mains - Grilled Fish, Prawns Coconut Curry (recommended), Red Spaghetti Dessert - None, since we were pretty full Beverages - Cucumber Punch, Fresh Lime Soda, Kingfisher Ultra Things to love - Location - It is easy to find, and in the middle of scenic White Town. Ambiance - La Villa perfectly captures the essence of the French Colony area. The bungalow, the outdoor seating, and the Food - I highly recommend the Prawns Coconut Curry. It's fragrant, flavourful, and comes in a tender coconut shell! Another favourite was the creamy olive-hummus that accompanied the bread-basket. I was also happy with the portion sizes. Things that could improve - The service - While the staff was courteous, I had to run inside twice to request for cutlery.Others - An extra fan, perhaps? I enjoyed our dining experience thoroughly. Keep in mind that if you are looking for a meal on a budget, this is definitely NOT the place - our lunch-for-four amounted to approximately INR 3,800. thehappypedestrian.com

Amazing ambience from the world of food. A beautiful bungalow restaurant in Pondicherry to eat under the bougainvilleas. Hands down the best meal I had on my recent trip to the French cultural city. I ordered a cold eggplant salad that was just exploding with flavors and went perfectly with the slightly warmer weather. For dessert we had the dark chocolate mousse with lemon cream and I would have given it 5 stars only for it - a dream for dark chocolate lovers came true. I haven't had a better chocolate dessert than this anywhere. Please don't miss it !!!
